Shannon Carey, MS, RD, CDN

Shannon is a Registered Dietitian at NYU Langone Weight Management Program and in private practice. She specializes in weight management, heart disease, PCOS, hypothyroidism, food allergies, pre and postnatal nutrition and digestive issues. Shannon also works closely with companies on developing and implementing their wellness programs.

Shannon received her undergraduate degree at Lehigh University. Her first job out of college was at a fast paced beauty PR firm in Manhattan. It was there where she first experienced how challenging it was to eat healthy and stay fit; all while working long hours and socializing. She was able to come up with a plan for herself and lose the extra pounds she gained after college and through that journey realized she could help others lead healthier lives. This experience led Shannon to study nutrition and complete her Masters in Clinical Nutrition at New York University and her Dietetic Internship at Mount Sinai Hospital. She worked as a clinical dietitian specializing in Oncology and Bariatrics at NYU Langone Medical Center before joining the weight management program. She is an accredited member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Association (Nutrition Entrepreneurs, Weight Management and Bariatric practice groups), the Greater New York Dietetic Association and Obesity Action Coalition. Shannon is also certified in Adult Weight Management.

Shannon’s goal is to motivate and inspire others to make healthier choices. She believes there is no one size fits all approach. Instead she works closely with each of her clients until they achieve their personal health and wellness goals.

Shannon resides on the Upper Westside of Manhattan with her husband Chris, son Liam and dog Coco. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, travelling, trying new restaurants and exercising regularly.
