Despina Hyde, MS, RD, CDN, CDE

Despina is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. She specialized in diabetes, pre-diabetes, weight management, bariatric surgery, heart health, food allergies, women’s health and preventative nutrition. In addition to counseling patients, Despina frequently consults with New York-based companies to develop corporate wellness activities and programming. She enjoys working with the media, public speaking and writing. Despina serves as President of the Greater New York Dietetic Association.

 

Despina completed her dietetic internship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in affiliation with Columbia University and Weill-Cornell Medical College. She holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from the University of Maryland.

 

Despina believes “your health is your wealth,” and that good nutrition is the foundation for a healthy lifestyle that will lead to long-term wellbeing. Despina does not believe in diets, but rather in helping her clients build a healthy lifestyle. Whether it’s a business dinner at a restaurant or lunch in a college cafeteria, Despina believes in empowering clients to make the best choices in any situation – eating for energy, maintaining a healthy weight, and most of all, to feel confident.

 

Despina is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group, New York State Dietetic Association, and Obesity Action Coalition. In her free time Despina enjoys running, reading and developing new recipes. She lives in Manhattan with her husband Eric and bulldog Rocco.
